VICTORY IN EUROPE DAY (VE-Day) AT THE WORLD WAR II MEMORIAL COMMEMORATION ANNOUNCED

The Friends of the National World War II Memorial and the National Park Service will conduct a special commemorative event at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 11:00 AM in remembrance of VE-Day. The ceremony will pay special recognition to all World War II veterans and especially those who were fought in the European Theater during the War.
Nine Honor Flights from across the United States will be present at the WWII Memorial for the ceremony. The ceremony will begin with the posting of colors by the Military District of Washington's Armed Forces Color Guard, remarks by Senator Bob Dole and Earl Morse, founder of Honor Flight Network, wreath layings and Taps at the Gold Stars on the Memorial's Freedom Wall.
This commemoration is produced by The National Park Service and the Friends of the National World War II Memorial. This ceremony is open to the public and there is no admission charge.
