Flight Sponsorship

The cost to conduct on Honor Flight Network (HFN) trip out of Ohio (Cleveland, Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati) is $10,000.  This is the HFN cost associated with transporting about 40 WWII Veterans, round trip airfare, meals, 56 passenger deluxe motor coach in the Washington DC area, tee/sweat shirts for the veterans, insurance, etc.  The guardians pay their own way.  The costs associated with flights originating in other states varies based upon airfare costs and if overnight lodging is required.  The cost for charting an entire aircraft (from Air Bus 320 to Boeing 747) varies from state to state and charter carrier.  If you would like to sponsor a commercial or charter flight, please contact the Founder of Honor Flight, Earl Morse at founder@honorflight.org

Sponsorship of a flight gives the contributor(s) the following:

1)  Membership of the organization can be at the flight send off and will be recognized to the veterans and the press in attendance.

2)  Two (2) members of the organization can go on the flight as guardians for free.

3)  The organization is able to provide literature about their organization, which will be included in the care packages given to the veterans at the beginning of the flight.

4)  The organization can conduct the "Welcome Home" Ceremony.

5) The organization will be included in all advertising and publicity of the sponsored flight and will be included on Honor Flight's International Website.

For more information on sponsoring a flight, please contact our offices at 937-521-2400 or by e-mail at donations@honorflight.org.

Hastings Middle School, Upper Arlington, OH - Sponsoring the Columbus, Ohio, May 3, 2008 - Flight.

Eighth graders in House A at Hastings Middle School <http://school.uaschools.org/hastings/> in Upper Arlington, Ohio appreciate the sacrifices and service of all veterans, but are especially grateful to World War II veterans. The annual Veterans Day program allows students the chance to honor veterans and then meet with them in small groups to hear stories and ask questions. This living history opportunity helped students focus their efforts on raising funds to send WWII veterans to Washington, D.C. on Honor Flight.

The Hastings Boys Golf Team hosted the first annual "Par-a-thon" and raised more than $4600 for making putts and birdies, setting the bar for other students!

Many students responded to a challenge for each House 8A classmate to donate $20; some students went far beyond that target. Friends worked together to rake leaves and bake treats to sell, and raised $560. Individual students contributed money from allowances and from babysitting, shoveling sidewalks, and walking dogs. The 8th grade Boys Basketball Team had a father-son competition, raising $600.

One student donated a pair of OSU/Wisconsin football tickets for a raffle; the winner returned the tickets to be resold, bringing in even more money!

As a class project, students staged “The Wave Café”, serving breakfast to the school community on 4 days before school. The crew arrived daily at school at 6:15 a.m. (a real sacrifice for 8th graders!) to set tables, flip pancakes, wait tables, and wash dishes. Many Hastings students, teachers and families paid to eat breakfast at 7 or 7:30 a.m. The Café raised a considerable amount of money and publicity surrounding the event encouraged community citizens to donate.

Students also wrote letters to veterans that will be put into the packet given to the veterans at the end of the trip, and also prepared breakfast bags, and will come to the airport to send off or greet the Honor Flight veterans.
